Job summary

South Shore Stars is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support a classroom team in meeting children’s developmental needs. You will help implement developmentally appropriate activities and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.

You will collaborate with Lead and teachers, complete reports, assist with licensing requirements, and participate in meetings. This is a full‑year, full‑time role with a 40‑hour week and a ½ hour unpaid break.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• All Teacher Assistants must take four Early Childhood Education courses within 18 months of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities.
• Warm, nurturing personality and good communication with children and families.
• Commitment to the agency’s mission of supporting low-income families and at‑risk children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Support ongoing child assessment using agency tools.
• Complete required family and progress reports.
• Maintain a stimulating, nurturing classroom environment.
• Ensure safety and supervise children throughout the day.
• Develop warm relationships with children.
• Assist in licensing and accreditation activities.
• Communicate with families through daily contact and reports.
