Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Teacher Assistants, as members of the classroom’s teaching team, help ensure that each child’s developmental needs are met.

PROGRAMMATIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in maintaining a stimulating and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Lead classroom activities as requested.
  • Help to organize and maintain classroom order, equipment and materials.
  • Help complete goals of annual classroom Action Plan.
  • Develop warm nurturing relationship with all children.
  • Monitor children throughout the day maintaining their safety.
  • Assist in food preparation and clean up.
  • Assist in child assessment activities and planning for individual children.
  • Assist in the implementation of licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop/complete annual Professional Development Plan.
  • All other assigned tasks.
FAMILY COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain an open and supportive communication with families.
  • Refer concerns expressed by parents/guardians to the Lead Teacher or Teacher.
  • Support family involvement in the Center’s activities.
  • Participate in family events at the Center.
  • All other activities as assigned by Center Director or Lead Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete all job description responsibilities.

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • All Teacher Assistants are required to take four Early Childhood Education college courses within the first 18 months of employment. South Shore Stars will pay for the courses and the texts needed.

Lead Teacher

All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs and work in a non-sedentary environment.
