Qualifications

• 12+ units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development required.
• Associate Teacher Permit required.
• For Early Head Start: 3 units in Infant/Toddler coursework required.
• 6+ months experience in a licensed preschool facility.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Must meet state licensing requirements including fingerprints, TB, physical exam and immunization proof.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE/CD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing weekly lesson plans integrating developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers.
• Recruit families for the program as required by standards.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment that supports physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
• Screen each child using appropriate assessment tools and translate findings into lesson plans.
• Help develop Individual Education Plans for children with special needs.
• Prepare monthly reports on attendance, absences, sign-in sheets, and CACFP meal counts.
• Assist with documentation such as anecdotal notes, home visits, conferences, and meeting agendas.
• Model daily hygiene routines and ensure classroom and outdoor safety.
• Provide emotional support, encourage self-esteem, and support families and childcare providers.
