Job summary

Neighborhood House Association is seeking a Childcare Aide to support preschool instruction under site supervision. You will assist in lesson planning, maintain a safe learning environment, and help with screenings and daily routines.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, and potential CD/ECE units. CPR/First Aid within 90 days and licensing compliance are required; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CD/ECE units from an accredited college or university or ROP Training preferred.
• Certification in pediatric first aid and CPR must be met within 90 days of employment.
• Must meet state and county licensing requirements (fingerprints, TB, physical, immunizations).
• All hires must take at least six (6) CD or ECE units within 12 months of employment.
• May assist in breaks and planning time; cannot supervise alone unless 12+ CD/ECE units.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the instruction of the pre-school aged children.
• Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans that reflect Head Start curriculum and standards.
• Aid in developing and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for children to grow.
• Assists in administering screenings using appropriate tools (not interpreting).
• Maintains daily hygiene routines and safety in classroom and outdoor areas.
• Provides emotional support and encourages self-esteem in children.
• Participates in required training and attends center meetings as needed.
• Administers first aid when needed.
• Participates in center-level case management and reports on attendance and meals.
• May conduct home visits and parent/teacher conferences; collaborates with community resources.
• Assists with supervision of outdoor play and field trips; performs other duties as assigned.
