Job summary

Northern Middlesex YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic Preschool Teacher for the Phelps Ingersoll Center for Children in Middletown, CT. You will create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom aligned with CT ELDS and DOTS documentation.

Join a collaborative team to plan meaningful learning experiences, foster development across domains, and partner with families through conferences and daily communication. Strong communicator and patient approach preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (or CT OEC equivalent).
• CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, and CT OEC Orientation.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with young children.
• Background check completed; health form signed by physician.
• CT DCF Mandated Reporter training; two professional references and one family reference.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Plan and implement meaningful learning experiences using CT ELDS.
• Observe children's growth and document progress using DOTS.
• Foster social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development through play and activities.
• Use positive guidance and effective classroom management strategies.
• Build partnerships with families through daily communication and conferences.
• Participate in staff meetings, family events, and professional development.
• Support CT OEC Early Start and NAEYC Accreditation practices.
