Job summary

South Shore Early Education and Care, a program of South Shore Community Action Council, is seeking a Preschool Teacher in Wareham to join our year-round, full-time team. You will create a nurturing classroom where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn from developmentally appropriate activities.

Responsibilities include planning engaging lessons with Creative Curriculum, supporting holistic child development, and ensuring alignment with EEC Program Standards.

Qualifications

• EEC Lead Teacher certification in Preschool required; Director II preferred.
• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field required; BA/BS preferred.
• Ability to speak and understand English required; additional languages a plus.

• Develop and implement engaging daily lesson plans and curriculum using Creative Curriculum.
• Create and maintain a safe, healthy, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
• Provide teaching activities that align with EEC Program Standards.
• Assist with meals and classroom routines.
• Monitor children on the bus as assigned.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in other program activities.

Position Details

Full-time, year-round position 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. No nights or weekends. Excellent benefits package, health & dental insurance, retirement plan with match, paid time off, including holidays, wellness and training days. Competitive starting hourly rates commensurate with experience: AA/AS: $25.62/hour BA/BS: $27.67/hour.

• Portuguese, Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Arabic language skills are a plus, but not required.
• 18 years of age required.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required.
• Background & Employment Requirements: All candidates must successfully complete the required CORI, DCF, SORI, and fingerprint background checks as part of the hiring process.
