Job summary

YMCA of San Diego is seeking a Preschool Teacher to supervise and engage children aged 3-5. The role involves planning activities, tracking daily progress, and fostering a warm, inclusive environment aligned with the YMCA Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities include coordinating developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining health standards, and communicating with families. The role requires CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days and a background check prior to start.

Qualifications

• 12 CORE units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) required.
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with youth in a preschool setting.
• Criminal record clearance by fingerprinting before reporting to work.
• Physical exam and negative TB test within 7 days of hire.
• Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire from recognized providers.

Responsibilities

• General housekeeping of program space and food preparation
• Plan and coordinate activities that fit children's developmental needs and interests
• Record and monitor the daily activities of children in your care
• Assist in the planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, centers, and supplies
• Communicate with parents effectively and create a positive relationship
• Maintain cleanliness and health standards of the environment
• Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times
• Plan and implement daily schedule and curriculum
• Follow emergency procedures to ensure safety of participants and staff
• Lead and supervise program activities and adhere to YMCA policies
