Job summary

Astor Services is hiring Preschool Teacher Assistants for Head Start, a federally funded program serving 3- and 4-year-olds with focus on early learning, health, and family well-being. This full-time role offers 30 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, in a collaborative setting with dedicated professionals.

The teacher assistant supports instruction, supervises children, conducts ongoing assessments, and may participate in home visits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with the population served is preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Create a well-organized, welcoming and safe learning environment.
• Apply play-based learning principles in daily activities.
• Supervise children and manage classroom behavior effectively.
• Incorporate varied experiences to support emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
• Collaborate with team members to support program operations.
• Provide coverage as needed to ensure smooth program operations.
• Follow safety and health practices in daily duties.
