Job summary

Astor Services is hiring Preschool Teacher Assistants for Head Start to support 3 and 4-year-olds in our learning environments. The teacher assistant will assist in delivering educational services, monitor children, and participate in assessments as part of a collaborative team.

You will work to create a safe, engaging classroom with play-based learning while supporting instruction throughout the day and potentially participating in home visits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with the population served is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates a well-organized learning environment for children that conveys a welcoming, trusting, and safe environment.
• Understands and incorporates the principles of play-based learning.
• Demonstrates effective classroom management, including responsibility for supervision of all children.
• Incorporates a variety of experiences in the classroom to support the children’s development.
• Able to work as a team member.
• Provides coverage to ensure smooth operation of the program.
• Follows safety and health practices in daily duties.
