Job summary

Kidzland Child Care Center in Parlin, NJ is seeking a warm Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our team. We collaborate with the Sayreville School District's Preschool Program and use Tools of the Mind to promote social-emotional development, independence, creativity, and early learning skills.

You will work closely with the lead teacher to support daily activities, implement the curriculum, and foster a nurturing environment that helps each child grow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ECE coursework preferred.
• Experience with preschool or toddlers is a plus.
• Patient, caring, and nurturing demeanor.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced childcare setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Background check with fingerprinting and NJ licensing compliance.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Support lead teachers in implementing lesson plans for preschool children.
• Supervise and engage children during activities, outdoor play, and meals.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organizing learning materials.
• Communicate with parents about daily progress and development.
• Help manage behavior with positive reinforcement.
• Assist children with basic needs including hygiene, feeding, and rest.

About the Role:

Kidzland Child Care Center in Parlin, NJ is looking for a warm, enthusiastic Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our team! Kidzland is a private preschool provider partnering with the Sayreville School District's Preschool Program. We follow the district's preschool curriculum, utilizing Tools of the Mind, a play-based approach that promotes children's social-emotional development, independence, creativity, and early learning skills.

The Preschool Teacher Assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to support daily classroom activities, implement the curriculum, foster a positive and nurturing learning environment, and encourage the growth and development of every child.

Work Hours:

Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Support lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and daily activities for preschool-aged children
• Supervise and engage children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and meal times
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
• Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organization of learning materials
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding daily progress and child development
• Help manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques
• Assist children with basic needs including hygiene, feeding, and rest routines

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; coursework in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred
• Prior experience working with preschool or toddler-aged children is a plus
• Patient, caring, and nurturing demeanor with a genuine love for children
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced childcare environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting and meet NJ childcare licensing requirements
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
