Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago's Catholic Elementary Schools is seeking a full-time Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Aide for the upcoming school year in Chicago. This role supports the lead teacher with a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment aligned with Illinois early learning standards.

You will assist with classroom activities, supervise children, and help meet social, emotional, physical, and academic needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with young children preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily classroom activities and lessons.
• Support children during small-group, whole-group, and individual learning activities.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom and learning environment.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, meals, and transitions.
• Assist with behavior guidance using positive and developmentally appropriate strategies.
• Help children with self-care routines such as toileting, handwashing, and meals.
• Prepare materials, set up learning centers, and assist with classroom displays.
• Observe and report children’s progress or concerns to the teacher.
• Communicate professionally with staff, parents, and guardians as directed.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Attend required faculty and staff meetings, and participate in professional development activities.
• Cooperate with the administrators and staff members in school related meetings, activities, and projects
