Job summary

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) in Monroe County is seeking a Head Start Teacher Aide/Assistant to support the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate lessons for three- to five-year-olds.

You will help create a safe, healthy, and engaging environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development and assists with daily health and welfare needs of the children in your care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CDA credential or associate degree in early childhood education within two years.
• Must be able to work at various sites under different supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lessons for three- to five-year-olds.
• Provide health, welfare, and safety support to children in the program.
• Help foster social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.
• Contribute to SCCAP's mission and work with youngest participants to prepare for school success.

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seekingTeacher Aide/Assistantfor ourHead Startprogram in Monroe County. SCCAP is a non-profit social service agency that works to provide opportunities for low-income individuals and families to achieve personal and economic independence.

As aHead Start Teacher Aide/Assistant, you will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate lessons for a group of three- to five-year-old children and providing quality early childhood experiences. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program by helping create an environment which fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care. You will contribute to SCCAP and the broader community we serve by working with our youngest participants and help them prepare for success in school and life.

Minimum requirements include:

• High school diploma, or equivalency with no previous experience; or any equivalent combination of education and training.
• Must obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate’s degree in early childhoodeducation within two years of being hired.Must be able to work at various sites under different supervisors.
• Must ensure efficient operations and present a professional image in conduct, attitude, and attire.
