Job summary

Child Start Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking a Teacher Aide to support Head Start children ages 3-5. The role assists the lead teacher with planning and implementing meaningful activities, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and supervising students throughout the day.

This 10-month position runs August through June. Required credentials include a Child Development Associate (CDA) and/or an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; bilingual English/Spanish is

Qualifications

• CDA credential required.
• Associate degree in ECE/Child Development acceptable.
• 3 months of experience with 3-5 year olds preferred.
• Ability to work at any center/location.
• CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.
• Physical and TB skin test; pass background checks and E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with planning and initiating learning activities.
• Maintain classroom environment and supervise children.
• Assist in planning and record keeping and other classroom related duties.
• Support other classroom related duties as needed.

The Teacher Aide is a member of the classroom team and helps plan and initiate meaningful learning activities for Head Start children ages 3-5 years. The Teacher Aide assists the teacher in conducting classroom activities, maintaining classroom environment, and supervising children and may also assist in planning and record keeping and other classroom related duties.

(This is a 10-month position August - June)

• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required
• Associate in Early Childhood Education or Child Development also acceptable
• Three (3) months of experience working with children 3 5 years preferred
• Must have the ability to work at any center regardless of location
• Must be certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid within 30 days of employment
• Must possess valid driver's license and insured automobile
• Must obtain a physical and TB skin test and must pass all criminal history background checks and E-Verify
