Essential Functions:

• Manage classroom ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies, and procedures.
• Create a welcoming environment for children, parents, and visitors.
• Maintain attractive classroom displays and an informative Parent Board.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate, stimulating lesson plans aligned with weekly themes and curriculum.
• Supervise children during activities, employing positive discipline techniques.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the classroom environment.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately.
• Support and guide assistant teachers to ensure smooth classroom operation.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff, providing updates and addressing concerns.
• Identify and resolve classroom and school issues collaboratively.

Qualifications

Physical Demands: The role requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and carrying.

Education/Experience: Minimum of 90 clock hours in Child Development and Curriculum Planning, with at least 1 year of experience in a licensed preschool classroom. This may be substituted with 30 semester hours of college coursework or a combination of both. Additionally, 9 clock hours of training in communication with staff, parents, and the public are required. An AA or BA in early childhood education or related fields is preferred. MD State Credential Level 5.
