The vision of Fitchburg Public Schools is to provide engaging learning experiences that help all students achieve high academic standards, develop intellectual rigor, creative interests, and social skills to prepare them for success in the 21st century.

The Special Education Inclusion Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum standards.

Essential duties include classroom instruction, conferences with students, parents, and colleagues, and active participation in curriculum development, activities, and pedagogy.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license, such as:
  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities PreK-8;
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations;
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents, advocating for children and problem-solving;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Commitment to fostering academic and social-emotional growth for every student.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide learning experiences based on Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards, creating a conducive learning environment.
  • Write student IEP progress reports and set goals.
  • Administer assessments as required.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum standards, establishing clear objectives.
  • Differentiate instruction using RTI framework.
  • Document student progress and seek additional support when needed.
  • Manage classroom effectively to monitor and supervise students.
  • Promote high achievement standards.
  • Use innovative instructional strategies and technologies to enhance learning.
  • Meet and instruct students at designated locations and times.
  • Implement district’s educational philosophy and standards.
  • Maintain professional practices and collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Participate in meetings and professional development.
  • Assist in implementing policies on student conduct and classroom management.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding student progress.
  • Promote diversity and equity, especially for students with special needs, 504 plans, or English Learners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or SPSA.

Terms of Employment

As negotiated with the Fitchburg School Committee and FEA. Benefits are offered through the City of Fitchburg. Employment contingent upon successful fingerprinting and background checks.
