The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking energetic and caring Preschool Teacher Substitutes to provide classroom coverage while teachers are out. Substitutes play a vital role in supporting our preschool programs by engaging in children, maintaining a safe and positive classroom environment, and continuing the learning and play that make our programs special. Our preschool programs nurture curiosity, creativity, and growth in young children through games, arts and crafts, music, stories, and hands‑on activities. We value each child’s unique abilities and needs and create welcoming spaces for all families. If you enjoy working with young children, have strong communication skills, and can adapt quickly to different classrooms and schedules, we encourage you to apply and join our team of dedicated educators.
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; six (6) months’ programmatic experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience. You must be physically able to keep up with participants and lift up to 50 pounds.
Must undergo criminal background, fingerprinting, and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Complete an annual sworn disclosure statement or affirmation, disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. You must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of being hired. Pass the TB test within 30 days before the date of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
