Summary

2-year-old teacher: The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with children and adults to meet children's needs, guide teacher assistants, and address parental concerns.

Duties
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example and encourage team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan age-appropriate activities to promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain communication with parents through discussions, reports, and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain a healthy classroom environment, including hygiene, safety, and security standards.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and standards.
  • Keep accurate records and files.
  • Develop a personal professional growth plan for continuous improvement.
Requirements
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy.
  • High energy, teamwork skills, and understanding of child development.
  • Leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification for infants/children.
  • Meet all DCF requirements and pass background and health screenings.
Educational Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 30 ECE credits.
  • Preference for an associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform frequent walks, handle objects, and communicate at various levels.
  • Visual acuity, including color perception and depth perception.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
