Qualifications

Job description

The preschool teacher provides a Christ-centered, biblically based environment for children birth through 5 years of age where all children receive a high quality early childhood education while learning the Good News of Jesus Christ. Under general administrative supervision, plans, develops and instructs students in a team setting, by taking the approved curriculum goals, standards, learning objectives and learning experiences that will contribute to the development of skills and academic achievement. The position is a full-time job working 40 hours per week at the Irvine campus.

Mariners Church Preschool teachers are expected to:

  • Provide a Christ-centered, warm and accepting environment for all students of MCP
  • Meet all Title 22 requirements as specified in State of California’s Childcare General Handbook
  • Maintain daily records, communicates with administration team and is able to respond to program needs to ensure quality programming and environments are upheld
  • Create, implement and evaluate an engaging, age appropriate emergent curriculum for children
  • Responsible for planning, organizing and carrying out a developmentally appropriate program in both the indoor and outdoor classroom setting
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children, the classroom, school and church events through a variety of verbal and written methods.
  • Lead and organize Parent/Teacher conferences to help illustrate full child development
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of children and maintain individual portfolios for each child. Teachers are to regularly assess and create interactions that reflect the domains as described in the California Preschool Learning Foundations.
  • Create a classroom environment which allows each student to thrive, stimulate critical thinking through creative learning experiences while maintaining licensing compliance.
  • Teachers manage and supervise classroom behavior, demonstrate proper time management, and communicate to families utilizing the program/parent app.
  • Work as a team on projects and supervision to create a cohesive environment for students and families.
  • Maintains all needed data for accreditation and other quality assessments.
  • Participate in MCP staff development days and regular staff meetings.
  • Completes 21 hours of approved Professional Development per year
  • Maintain center’s professional status by displaying spiritual, positive, professional behavior, and understands and follow policies and procedures
  • Participate in activities that promote community within the school and church throughout the year

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods to actively supervise and interact with children during playtime, activities, and outdoor play.
  • Capability to lift and carry infants and toddlers, including the ability to support and hold children weighing up to 40 pounds, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and kneel to the child's eye level, ensuring effective communication and engagement in various activities.
  • Willingness and capability to participate in and lead physical activities, including games, sports, and other recreational exercises that promote the physical development of children.
  • Ability to set up and arrange classroom furniture and materials, as well as engage in routine cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for children.
  • Readiness to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, which may include the ability to lift and carry children to safety, evacuate the facility, or administer basic first aid.
  • Capacity to supervise children during outdoor play, including monitoring their activities, ensuring safety, and participating in outdoor games and exercises.
  • Capability to observe and assess the health and well-being of children, including recognizing signs of distress or illness and taking appropriate action.
  • Ability to transition between standing and sitting positions as required during various activities, storytime, and meal times.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Clear Live Scan and Criminal Background
    • 24 units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development minimum, AA or BA preferred
    • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
    • Record of immunizations: current TB test clearance, MMR, DTaP, annual influenza
    • Hours may vary as needed; center open from 7am-6pm
