Job summary

The Bensenville Park District is seeking a Preschool Substitute Teacher to assist the lead teacher in a nurturing, play-based learning environment for preschool-aged children at DGLC - BENSENVILLE, IL 60106. Typical hours fall between 8:00am and 3:30pm, with varying schedule based on program needs.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, supervising children, supporting development across social, emotional, cognitive, and physical domains, and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field – preferred
• Knowledge of child development and educational best practices
• Ability to create age-appropriate lesson plans and learning activities
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children
• Experience working with children 2-5
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff
• Ability to solve problems as they arise
• Must be dependable, energetic, and have a positive attitude
• Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices
• Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid is required

• Assist with daily routines, including arrival, dismissal, meals, restroom breaks, transitions, and cleanup.
• Promote positive behavior and assist with conflict resolution among students.
• Communicate important information regarding children’s needs or incidents to the Lead Instructor or Recreation Supervisor.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Assist with creative arts, music, movement, and other classroom activities as directed.
• Work collaboratively with classroom staff to support a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
