Job summary

Canyon View in Ogden, Utah is seeking a part-time Preschool Special Education Paraprofessional to support a certified teacher in delivering IEP-based instruction to 3–5-year-olds. You will work 5.5 hours per day (27.5 hours/week), under supervision, providing direct instructional support, assisting with routines, personal care, and data collection, while promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment.

This position is non-exempt, funded, with potential for continuation based on funding;

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children, preferably in early childhood or special education settings.
• Basic understanding of child development and early learning principles.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively under supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a supportive demeanor when working with young children with varying needs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with IEP goals and instruction.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to diverse learners.
• Support preschool curriculum focused on early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
• Reinforce learning activities and model appropriate behaviors.
• Assist students with daily living skills as needed.
• Implement behavior support strategies as directed.
• Maintain a structured, organized learning environment.
• Observe and document student progress and report to the teacher.
• Facilitate peer interactions during classroom and playground activities.
• Ensure safety and supervise students during transitions.
