Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AA Degree/72 college credits or ability to pass the Para-Educator test.
• Experience supporting students in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support for IEP students by attending to program needs including reading, writing, math and social/behavior skills.
• Provide support and structure for students needing behavior and social skills support.
• Assist students in developing functional skills leading to independence.
• Implement and reinforce social skills training programs.
• Assist with personal care tasks as needed and with record-keeping and materials.
• Learn instructional techniques under teacher direction and carry out programs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student progress.
• Assist in assessing students and monitor progress in classroom activities.
• Promote positive public relations when communicating with the public.
