Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District seeks an Instructional Assistant for Special Education Preschool at Gateway Polytechnic Academy. You will assist the teacher by working with individual students or small groups to help meet classroom and individualized goals.

The position runs 188 days over 9 months, 35 hours per week, with hours listed as 8:30 am–4:00 pm (Wed 8:00 am–12:00 pm). Compensation follows the QCUSD salary schedule; benefits per policy; requires relevant certifications and clearances.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification and keep certifications current.
• Must be able to bend and lift 30 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
• Must pass a background clearance.
• Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce learning for individual students or groups as directed by the teacher.
• Support independent study and remedial work as planned by the classroom teacher.
• Check class work, grade papers and supervise testing as assigned.
• Serve as chief aide to substitute teachers in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Assist with lunch, recess, and classroom routines.
• Meet students at the bus and assist with bus departure.
