Job summary

Community Action For Improvement Inc. is seeking a Program Aide for Carrollton Head Start to support classroom activities, kitchen and bus services.

The role involves light cleaning and assisting with children, including those with special needs, under supervision of the Center Manager and classroom Teacher. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, experience with preschoolers, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience working with pre-school age children
• Valid Driver's License
• English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to interact with preschool children
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of child development and classroom behavior management
• CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff in activities, trips, and outdoor activities as per lesson plans
• Help develop materials and activities reflecting cultural backgrounds
• Assist at mealtime to promote nutrition and social skills
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and order
• Support teacher in various program tasks (Family Nights, copying newsletters, etc.)
• Act as temporary substitute during absences of staff or assistants
• Perform similar duties as assigned
