Job summary

Everett Public Schools in Everett, MA seeks a Preschool/PreK Multi-age Classroom Teacher to support three- and four-year-old students under an integrated looping model. Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and respectful learning environment with clear and consistent schedules and routines
  • Daily application of the basic principles of ABA
  • Plan and facilitate lessons and accommodations aligned with State Standards; collaborate with other general education and special education teachers; support students in a multi-age setting and promote inclusion
  • Create a system for motivating students to perform at their potential with positive reinforcement
  • Follow individual behavior support plans, collect data on behaviors, and consult regarding effectiveness of interventions
  • Implement de-escalation procedures and respond to challenging behaviors with respect and preserving dignity of students
  • Provide social modeling, scripts, and social skills instruction
  • Support students in toilet training routines
  • Supervise daily activities of paraprofessionals in the classroom
  • Collaborate with ancillary service providers to provide a whole-child approach to learning
  • Support students in increasing communication skills including visuals, AAC devices, PECS
  • Implement IEP accommodations, collect data on IEP goals, and report progress to district
  • Participate in team meetings and propose new programming accommodations as needed
  • Evaluate students as necessary according to IEP timeline
  • Two-way culturally responsive ongoing communication with parents
  • Participation in de-escalation and physical management training when offered by district

Preschool/PreK Multi-age Classroom Teacher

Description :

The Multi-age Classroom Teacher is responsible for three and four-year-old students based on the philosophy that having an age range of more than one year in a classroom provides opportunities for younger children to learn from older children. At the same time older children benefit from opportunities to learn and grow at their own individual pace while engaging with their peers. The Multi-age model is designed to be an integrated “looping model” so that children can have the same teacher in the same classroom for two consecutive years.

The Multi-age Classroom Teacher is a special education teacher responsible for the programming and implementation of Individualized Education Program services by working collaboratively with ancillary service providers and paraprofessionals to improve performance of students using evidence-based practices. This teacher will provide differentiated instruction based on the curriculum for all students. The goal for each student is to ensure kindergarten readiness.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Special Education
  • MA Licensure-PreK-8 Moderate Special Needs or Severe Special Needs
  • SEI Endorsement

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Education/Special Education
  • 3 years experience working with students with Autism or developmental disabilities
  • Experience in applying the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis

Duties:

  • Collaborate with ancillary service providers (i.e. SLP, OT, PT, BCBA) to provide a whole child approach to learning
  • Support students in increasing communication skills including the use of visuals, AAC devices, PECS, etc.
  • Implement IEP accommodations, collect data on IEP goals, and report out on progress in all areas including academics, behavior, and social skills as required by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for students receiving Special Education services
  • Participate in Team meetings, report out on student progress in parent friendly language, and propose new programming accommodations as needed
  • Evaluate students as necessary according to their IEP timeline
  • Two-way culturally responsive ongoing communication with parents
  • Participation in de-escalation and physical management training as offered by the district when appropriate

Salary:

Salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Everett School Committee and the Everett Teachers Association. SY 26-27. Pay Range $65,178-$125,654.
