Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
• Must clear criminal and child abuse background check.
• Para-educator Generalist Certificate with Early Childhood emphasis or willingness to obtain.
• Pre-employment health certification.
• Preferred: CPI training, Autism training, Pediatric First Aid and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Provide accommodation services as outlined in students' IEPs and directed by teaching staff.
• Administer, score and record achievement and diagnostic tests as directed.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce material taught by classroom staff.
• Facilitate inclusion of students with disabilities into general education settings.
• Supervise guided or independent practice in the classroom.
• Prompt students to use strategies to assist in self-management of behavior.
• Supervise students during meals, breaks, hallways, bus loading, drills, trips, and recess.
• Assist students with snack, lunch, cleanup, toilet and hand-washing routines.
• Model and reinforce appropriate social behaviors.
• Copy, order, arrange or gather materials as directed.
• Maintain communication with parents through logs or email.
• Serve as information source for substitutes.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Participate in in-service trainings; perform other duties as assigned by building administrator.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces and equipment per standards.
