Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA, Inc. in Somerville, NJ is seeking a part-time Food Worker to support daily meal service for our Preschool program. The role involves receiving, organizing and distributing meals and maintaining a clean food-service area.

Schedule: approximately 2-4 hours per day (9am-1pm). Responsibilities include food deliveries, meal distribution, counts, sanitation, inventory, and adherence to CACFP requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food-service, school or childcare experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred.
• Dependable, organized and able to follow established procedures.
• Ability to complete basic meal counts and records accurately.
• Ability to lift and transport food and meal-service supplies.
• Must complete required YMCA and food-service trainings.

Responsibilities

• Receive and organize daily food and milk deliveries.
• Prepare and distribute meals, snacks and milk to preschool classrooms.
• Maintain required meal counts and basic food-service records.
• Monitor food temperatures and follow food-safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintain food and supply inventory and communicate when items need to be reordered.
• Follow allergy and dietary accommodation procedures.
• Clean and sanitize food-service areas, carts and equipment.
• Properly store or dispose of food following meal service.
• Complete required food-service and CACFP training and documentation, as applicable.
• Communicate food-delivery or meal-service concerns to the Preschool Program Director.
• Perform other related food-service duties as assigned.
