Job summary

Spring Education Group is seeking a reliable Maintenance Service Technician to support multiple preschool locations in Columbus, OH and surrounding areas. You will handle repairs, inspections, and event setup, while coordinating with vendors to keep facilities safe and functional.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred.
• Must pass state background checks and fingerprint clearance.
• 2+ years of general building maintenance experience, ideally in schools or multi-site environments.
• Physically able to lift up to 50lbs (occasionally 100lbs) and work indoors/outdoors in varying weather.
• Authorized to work in the United States; strong customer-service mindset and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building repairs including plumbing, carpentry, painting, patching, and electrical work.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify facility needs and safety risks.
• Assist with equipment setup, room configurations, and event preparation to support school operations.
• Complete minor playground, landscaping, fencing, and grounds repairs.
• Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, fire systems, alarms, and vehicles.
• Manage vendor and contractor activity on campus and build strong relationships.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance situations and document repairs and visits.
• Source and procure maintenance supplies and travel between assigned schools.

Job Description

Spring Education Group is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Service Technician to support multiple preschool locations within Columbus, Ohio and the surrounding areas. In this role, you’ll be a trusted partner to School Leaders, responding quickly to maintenance needs, supporting preventative care, and overseeing vendor-driven projects, as needed, to keep our schools operating smoothly.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform general building repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, patching, and electrical work.
• Conduct routine inspections and walkthroughs to identify facility needs and safety risks.
• Support classroom and school operations by assisting with equipment setup, room configurations, and event preparation.
• Complete minor playground, landscaping, fencing, and grounds repairs.
• Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on key systems such as HVAC, fire suppression, alarms, and vehicles.
• Manage all vendor and contractor activity on campus.
• Build strong, positive working relationships with vendors, contractors, and school teams.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance situations, including weather events or building emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and vendor visits.
• Source and procure maintenance supplies.
• Travel between assigned schools via personal vehicle; mileage reimbursed per company policy.

What We’re Looking For:

• High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred.
• Must pass all state-required background checks and maintain valid fingerprint clearance.
• Must be able to respond to occasional after-hours emergencies.
• 2+ years of general building maintenance experience, ideally in schools, childcare, or multi-site environments.
• Physically able to lift up to 50lbs (occasionally up to 100lbs) and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Customer-service mentality and strong communication skills.
• Basic computer competency (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
• Authorized to work in the United States.
