Job summary

The Charter County of Wayne is seeking a Hearing and Vision Technician 1 to perform preschool and school-age screening in Michigan under the Public Health Code. The role supports local health departments, following training by the MDHHS to screen students in the Out-Wayne County area.

Under limited supervision, you will conduct tests, interpret results, and communicate findings by letter, phone, or conference.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children in a medical or educational setting is required (paid or volunteer).
• Must have a valid Michigan driver's license with a safe driving record and an automobile available for transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide preliminary hearing screening to children and adolescents.
• Provide vision screening to children and adolescents.
• Document results of screening correctly and promptly.
• Enter data into pre-approved forms and databases; assist with monthly reports.
• Complete and submit required forms, timesheets, and activity sheets timely.
• Schedule screening sessions in the community.
• Make follow-up calls regarding screening sessions, results, and referrals.
• Develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of people to ensure efficient screenings.
