Job summary

Primrose School of Yukon is seeking a Food Service Teacher (Chef) to prepare healthy meals for children and maintain a nut-free, safe kitchen environment at our Yukon, OK location. The role requires adapting menus as needed and collaborating with the Director on daily menus.

You will support meal timing, portion control, and ordering, while ensuring compliance with local child care and food service regulations. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Must meet basic requirements of local child care and food service regulatory agencies
• Ability to relate positively to young children is essential
• Previous experience in quantity food preparation is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a keen awareness of children that have allergies and food restrictions.
• Ensures food service area and food is free of nuts or nut products and cross-contamination risks according to policy.
• Follows the daily menu prepared in collaboration with or by the Director.
• Follows portion control standards for lunch and snacks.
• Is adaptable and implements changes in menus, if instructed.
• Ensures that each meal is ready to be served when scheduled.
• Assists with ordering food and is able to calculate the amount needed.
• Maintains an orderly, clean and safe kitchen area at all times, including proper maintenance of equipment.
• Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and school functions.
• Maintains professional appearance as per employee handbook.
• Assists in other capacities as needed.
