Job summary

West Ottawa Public Schools is seeking a GSRP Early Childhood Floater Substitute to provide coverage and support for preschool classrooms. The role follows established lesson plans and routines while promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities include assisting lead teachers, supporting transitions and activities, and maintaining clear communication with staff and program leadership. This is a part-time, school-year position with 32 hours weekly and requires background

Qualifications

• Associate degree or CDA preferred in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.
• Experience with preschool-aged children in licensed settings preferred.
• Ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices and follow lesson plans.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to different classrooms and teaching styles; pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage for lead/associate teachers during absences.
• Support daily lesson plans, routines, and activities as directed.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.
• Assist with transitions, self-help skills, meals, rest, and outdoor play.
• Apply positive behavior guidance to support social-emotional development.
• Maintain consistent routines and classroom expectations.
• Communicate with staff, site supervisor, and program director about needs/progress.
• Follow licensing regulations, GSRP requirements, and district policies.
• Participate in ongoing professional development as requested.
