Job summary

YWCA seeks a PFAE Manager to lead the PFAE program quality at partner childcare sites. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Director of Education and supervises PFAE Teachers, ensuring compliance with Illinois quality measures and state regulations.

Responsibilities include coordinating trainings, developing staff, monitoring development plans, and partnering with Early Childhood Education and Family Services teams to deliver high-quality early care and education for children and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education with a PELS endorsement.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Minimum of three years of preschool management experience.
• Proficient in FCCERS, ITERS, ISBE Early Learning Standards, ExceleRate Illinois.
• Experience in human services program management, including planning, operations & evaluation.
• Ability to pass a health exam and criminal background check.
• Travel ability; able to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; adaptable and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Establish plans with partner childcare providers to ensure safety for children.
• Evaluate site needs and devise a training strategy with PELS teachers.
• Coordinate trainings and report progress to Operations and Quality Manager.
• Monitor professional development plans and trainee progress.
• Ensure statutory training requirements are met.
• Develop, coordinate, and present training programs for staff.
• Hire, train, and supervise PELS teachers.
• Provide guidance on effective coaching; occasionally substitute for teachers.
• Collaborate with social service agencies to meet disability enrollment requirements.
• Leverage YWCA programs to meet partner needs; coordinate recruitment and screening of teachers.
• Meet budget projections; enter data and provide timely reporting.
