Job summary

St. Joseph County ISD is seeking a full-time Associate Teacher to support at-risk preschoolers as a co-instructor with the GSRP Lead Teacher for kindergarten readiness.

The role requires cooperation with the Lead Teacher, Early Childhood Specialist and Supervisor, and includes duties from classroom support to home visits. Qualified candidates will have an associate degree or equivalent coursework, CPR/AED and first aid training, and the ability to work at child level, maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development or equivalent.
• Some coursework in early childhood education or child development acceptable with a compliance plan.
• Prior preschool experience preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively with GSRP Lead Teacher and Supervisor.
• CPR/AED and first aid certification required annually.
• Maintain attendance, performance and physical ability to perform duties.
• Regular and reliable attendance at designated site.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and work at child level.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classrooms as co-instructor with GSRP Lead Teacher.
• Communicate effectively with families and program staff.
• Maintain organization and classroom records.
• Attend ongoing professional development.

• Support safety and supervision of children during activities and transitions.
• Assist with planning curriculum and activities with team.
