Job summary

Turning Point Community Development Corp in Henderson, NC seeks a Teacher Assistant for the Preschool Classroom to support early learners ages 2-5. You will assist the Lead Teacher, help create a positive, safe classroom, and document milestones for families.

You will collaborate with teachers and staff to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and maintain organized records, attendance, and daily schedules while fostering a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or EDU 119 completed.
• Driver's license required.
• Must meet all state preschool teacher assistant requirements.
• High level of flexibility and willingness to work within business hours.
• Previous experience as a teacher assistant or in a licensed daycare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help Lead Teacher prepare lesson plans.
• Document and share with parents the important milestones in a child's day.
• Collaborate with other preschool teachers and leaders to implement an engaging curriculum.
• Respect and observe children's interests; intervene to maintain safety.
• Enhance children's play with language, toys, and activities.
• Encourage and model social behavior appropriate for development.
• Share ideas in planning a daily schedule with balanced activities.
• Set up necessary material for classroom projects and centers.
• Track student attendance and follow class schedules.
• Escort and supervise students on field trips and activities.
• Make sure classrooms are safe and tidy before classes start.
