Job summary

ADAPT Community Network in Staten Island seeks a Preschool Certified Teacher Assistant to join our Children’s Program. This role includes a sign-on bonus and instructional support to preschool children under supervision of a licensed teacher.

The position emphasizes teamwork, classroom safety, confidentiality, and collaboration with families to promote development. NYS Teacher Assistant Certification is required; prior workshops in safety and abuse prevention are encouraged before start date.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NYS Teacher Assistant Certification (Level I–III) required.
• Six months related experience preferred.
• Attend workshops on Child Abuse Identification, Preventing Sleeping Infant Death Syndrome, and Abusive Head Trauma Training before start date.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical and programmatic aid to children.
• Assists with supervision of children in assigned areas.
• Assists Teacher with development of instructional materials and resources.
• Performs data collection and progress notes according to schedule.
• Assists with toileting and feeding of children as needed.
• Participates in required staff meetings and in-service trainings.
