Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of safety practices related to preschool children.
• Good written and oral communication skills and basic math skills.
• Ability to maintain schedules while meeting individual needs of children and families.

Responsibilities

• Transport children to and from Head Start centers safely and efficiently.
• Ensure seat belts or appropriate seats are used and belted.
• Complete daily sign-on and sign-off sheets for each child.
• Deliver each child to a responsible adult on leaving the bus.
• Prevent leaving a child unattended and follow safety procedures.
• Observe children’s health and report concerns to the administrator.
• Coordinate paperwork between homes and Head Start sites.
• Collaborate with site staff, families, and transportation manager to design efficient routes and deliveries.
• Conduct a full bus walk-through after each route to ensure no one or belongings are left behind.
