Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. seeks an entry-level Transportation Specialist to transport children to and from Head Start centers in a safe and timely manner.

The role requires following safety protocols, ensuring proper use of seat belts and child seats, and reporting any behavioral concerns to the Center Administrator. You will maintain daily sign-on and sign-off records, coordinate paperwork between homes and Head Start sites, and collaborate with families and transportation staff to design

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with preschool children desirable.
• Knowledge of safety practices for transporting young children.
• Good written and oral communication and basic math.

Responsibilities

• Transport children to and from Head Start centers efficiently and safely.
• Ensure passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate seats and belted in.
• Ensure behavioral issues do not compromise safety of any child on the bus.
• Perform daily sign on & sign off sheets, accounting by name all children getting on and off the bus.
• Ensure each child is delivered to a responsible adult upon leaving the bus.
• Ensure no child is left unattended while on the bus, following procedures to prevent this.
• Visually observe health of each child and report concerns.
• Coordinate paperwork flow between homes and Head Start sites.
• Collaborate with site staff, families, and transportation manager to design efficient bus routes and mail deliveries.

• Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts or are placed in appropriate (age or weight) seats and belted in.
• Ensure that any behavioral issues do not compromise the safety of any child on the bus.
• Perform daily sign on & sign off sheets, accounting by name all children getting on and off the bus.
• Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult upon leaving bus (on the authorized list).
• Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus, following all procedures put in place to prevent a child being left behind.
• Visually observe the health of each child on the bus, report any concerns to Center Administrator or designee.
• Coordinate the paperwork flow between homes and Head Start sites.
• Continuous collaboration with site staff, families and transportation manager to design efficient bus routes, and mail/message deliveries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of the behaviors and developmental stages of pre-school children, typically gained by working one year or more in a school or preschool setting.
• Knowledge of safety practices as they relate to pre-school children.
• Good written and oral communications skills and basic math skills.
• Ability to maintain schedules while meeting individual needs of children and families
