The Bilingual Teacher will be responsible for delivering instruction in both English and Spanish, adhering to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) guidelines for Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) programs. The ideal candidate will understand bilingual education pedagogy, second language acquisition, and culturally responsive teaching practices. They will create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters students' academic growth and language development.
This position reports directly to the school principal and functionally to other school administrators and district directors. It involves coordination with teachers, instructional coaches, school psychologists, social workers, support staff, students, guardians, and the community.
The Bilingual Teacher will plan and execute standards-aligned lessons in both English and Spanish, provide targeted tutoring, create instructional materials, and conduct assessments to ensure students achieve grade-level proficiency. They will employ diverse instructional strategies tailored to students' English proficiency levels, utilizing assessments like ACCESS for ELLs to inform instruction and communicate progress with stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, valid state teaching license or certification, and Bilingual or ESL Endorsement required. A Master's degree and prior teaching experience are preferred.
Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, lift up to 15 pounds, and adjust physical positioning to teach effectively. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for employees with disabilities.
