Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo is seeking an Associate Teacher for our Early Childhood Education team. You will provide care and education for 0–5-year-olds, collaborating with center staff to create engaging activities and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.

The role requires ECE units or a CDA/CTC, an Associate Teacher Permit or higher, and at least 6 months of relevant experience. Some positions may require a CA driver’s license and travel considerations.

Qualifications

• Requires 12 ECE semester units with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
• Minimum 6 months related experience with children age 0–5.
• Must hold an Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• For HS/EHS/MSHS: CDA credential or California equivalent with 12 ECE units and 6 infant/toddler units where applicable.
• Enrollment in a CDA credential program within 2 years is acceptable.
• Associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or enrollment in degree program is acceptable.
• May require a valid California driver’s license and driving record if travel is needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assume the responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence, guiding and supporting instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of children during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition, as required by Health and Safety Code within the first 30 days of hire.
