Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. seeks an Associate Teacher to join the Las Rosas Center in Wasco, CA.

You will provide care and education for children aged 0-5, working closely with Center staff to plan engaging activities and ensure a safe, nurturing environment. The role requires 12 ECE units or a CDA/CTC credential, 6 months of related experience, and a valid California permit or higher.

Qualifications

• 12 ECE semester units with a grade C or better, or a CDA credential or CTC.
• 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years.
• Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• For HS/EHS/MSHS roles, meet CDA credential or California equivalent criteria or be enrolled in a qualifying program.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children 0-5, ensuring a positive learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan developmentally appropriate activities.
• Guide instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers in the absence of a lead teacher.
• Maintain a safe, clean, nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist with planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities, games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision and ensure child safety during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR within 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of approved health practices training within 30 days.

We are looking for dedicated individual to join our Early Childhood Education team as Associate Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children while supporting our mission to provide high-quality education and care.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Has an Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• HS/EHS/MSHS/State-Braided Associate Teachers must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or the California equivalent of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit at time of hire (12 ECE semester units including core courses; and for EHS and infant/toddler classrooms must also have 6 infant/toddler semester units)
  • OR
  • Be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years;
  • OR
  • Have an associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:

• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition, as required by Health and Safety Code within the first 30 days of hire.
