Seagull Schools Inc in Kailua, Hawaii seeks a Preschool Assistant Teacher to support a lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing classroom and delivering age-appropriate activities. You will help plan lessons, maintain order, and meet the emotional and developmental needs of young children.

The role requires DHS qualifications for Assistant Teacher, an early childhood education CDA or 2 years of college with 9 ECE units, and clearance in medical, TB, and criminal history.

Qualifications

• Meet State of Hawaii DHS qualification standards for Assistant Teacher.
• CDA in Early Childhood Education or 2 years college with 9 ECE units.
• Must meet licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance).
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
• CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices.
• Comply with Hawaii DHS licensing requirements.
• Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher.
• Assist in planning and implementing educational activities, lessons, and materials.
• Assist in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior.
• Assist with mealtime preparations and nap-time support.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to promote a safe learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives.
• Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness and manage supplies.
• Conduct yourself professionally with children, staff, and parents, on or off campus.
• Be sensitive and responsive to children's needs.
• Use positive modeling and behavior management.
• Follow school policies and maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
