Job summary

Seagull Schools in Kailua, HI seeks a Teacher’s Aide to support the lead teacher in creating a positive, safe, and productive learning environment for young children. You will assist with lesson preparation, classroom management, and individualized student support to foster growth and development.

Ideal candidates enjoy working with children, demonstrate patience, and maintain reliable attendance. The role involves teamwork with teachers and ongoing communication with parents to support learning

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age and have some experience working with young children.
• Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance).
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
• CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain NAEYC Accreditation Standards and practices.
• Comply with DHS Child Care Licensing Hawaii Administrative Rules.
• Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher.
• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities, lessons, and materials.
• Assist in assessing and documenting student progress and behavior.
• Assist with mealtime preparations and nap-time support.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support learning objectives.
• Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness such as cleaning, sanitizing, toileting, and diapering, plus managing supplies and resources.
• Conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when dealing with children, other staff or parents, or during school activities on or off campus.
• Be sensitive and responsive to children's needs.
• Use positive modeling and behavior management.
• Follow school policies and procedures (maintain confidentiality).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
