Job summary

Southwest is seeking a preschool assistant to support a Head Start classroom of up to 20 children, stepping in as teacher when needed and conducting home visits. You will encourage parent involvement and collaborate with staff on enrollment and family needs.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; a Child Development Associate Credential is preferred, as is a degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; a Child Development Associate Credential preferred.
• Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred; experience/training with preschool children desirable.
• Must pass physical exam, drug screen, and criminal/fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in carrying out instruction for a preschool classroom of up to 20 children.
• Serve as teacher in absence of regular Teacher.
• Make home visits and encourage parent involvement.
• Work with staff concerning enrollment and meeting family needs.
