Job summary

YMCA of the Lowcountry is seeking a Daycare Assistant Teacher to support preschool-age children (2–5) in a safe, nurturing setting. You will assist the Lead Preschool Teacher, implement age-appropriate activities, and ensure licensing and safety standards are met.

The role offers part-time, non-exempt work with flexible scheduling and a focus on creating inclusive environments for families. Up to 30 hours weekly with a 8 AM–3 PM shift.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to actively supervise children and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain compliance with licensing and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and care for preschool-age children (ages 2–5).
• Assist Lead Preschool Teacher with activities and classroom management.
• Maintain staff-child ratios and safety procedures.
• Document program operations and licensing compliance.
• Collaborate with staff and leadership.
