Job summary

The Guidance Center is hiring an Assistant Teacher to support preschool children with HighScope-based activities, maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment, and aligning with Head Start standards.

Requirements include an AA in Early Childhood Education or related field, appropriate CDA, or active CDA program enrollment within two years, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. The role emphasizes cultural sensitivity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate curriculum practices.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds unassisted.
• Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement appropriate early childhood activities based on HighScope curriculum.
• Provide and maintain a clean, nurturing and safe environment for preschool children.
• Adhere to Head Start Performance Standards and agency policies.
• Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of children and families.
• Assist with daily activities and interactions that reflect the program's mission.
