Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to create a safe, engaging learning environment for young children within the Community Education program. You will help plan activities, maintain the classroom, and support the instructor in alignment with school philosophy.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; CDA or Associate’s degree preferred. CPR and first-aid training are required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and assist in field trips.
• Attend PLCs and related professional development opportunities sponsored by WBPA.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children.


• Assume equal responsibility of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the room(s).


• Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, and learning environment of the classroom.


• Assist the instructor in implementing the program for the students in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.


• Assist instructor with the organizational duties.


• Take an active role in large and small groups, work-time (Plan-Do-Review) and all areas of running the classroom.


• Take the lead in running the classroom when the teacher is absent and there is a substitute.


• Assist in planning and implementation of field trips.


• Attend all Professional Learning Communities (PLC), plan daily, parent orientation, Meet and Greet and professional development opportunities sponsored by the WBPA.

Have valid CPR and first-aid training.
