Preschool 2s Lead Teacher Job Description
A Preschool 2s Lead Teacher is passionate about supporting the children and teachers of the Preschool as they live out the Forsyth Country Day School’s mission of preparing our children for what’s ahead. The preschool lead teacher will be responsible for fostering growth in all domains of development. Those domains include the following: Social/Emotional, Language/Literacy, Math/Logical Reasoning, Physical (fine and gross motor), and Adaptive Skills. Teachers are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community. This is a 12-month position, M-F 7:45-3:45.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Models and instills a love of learning
- Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth
- Utilizes a range of data sources to drive instruction, plan for support, and set goals for students in all areas of development: Social-Emotional, Language and Literacy, Logical-Mathematical, and Physical. This includes assessing and reporting on student learning, including formative and benchmark assessments, report cards, and parent conferences.
- Employs a variety of teaching methods including individual and small group instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and backgrounds.
- Identifies students’ needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping support students’ health, behavioral, and learning needs.
- Builds strong partnerships with families and communicates regularly about student learning and classroom events, including conducting conferences.
- Participates in all divisional, team, department, and faculty meetings.
- Maintains a positive attitude and conducts oneself professionally with respect to students, faculty, parents, and the community.
- Vigorously pursues knowledge of best teaching practices and of ages of students taught.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education preferred
- 3 or more years of classroom teaching experience in an early childhood environment, preferred
- Teaching license preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly required to walk, including across uneven ground, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
- Must be able to operate a computer and have basic knowledge of Google Workspace
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed
- Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively
