Preschool Teacher (2s-3s) Job Description

Position: Preschool Teacher (2s-3s Age Group) Compensation: $13-$15/hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Position Summary: The Preschool Teacher for the 2s-3s age group is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young learners can develop their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. This role includes engaging lesson planning, classroom management, and fostering a love for learning in alignment with the center's curriculum and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Management:

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.

Establish and uphold consistent routines to foster a sense of security and predictability for children.

Encourage positive behaviors and model respectful interactions.

Curriculum Implementation:

Develop and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and developmental milestones.

Facilitate activities promoting early literacy, numeracy, sensory exploration, and motor skills.

Incorporate play-based and interactive learning techniques to engage children.

Child Development:

Observe and document each child’s growth and development, identifying strengths and areas needing support.

Encourage social-emotional learning by teaching conflict resolution, sharing, and communication skills.

Support potty training efforts and other developmental milestones.

Parent Communication:

Build relationships with families to create a partnership in their child’s learning and development.

Provide daily updates and progress reports to parents through newsletters, apps, or conversations.

Address parent questions or concerns with professionalism and empathy.

Health and Safety:

Ensure compliance with all health and safety guidelines, including monitoring children during play and transitions.

Administer first aid and follow procedures for emergencies if needed.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitize toys, surfaces, and materials regularly.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with teaching assistants, co-teachers, and school staff to ensure consistency and a supportive classroom environment.

Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year working with children aged 2-3 in a childcare or preschool setting.

Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification preferred. Must meet local licensing requirements.

Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Creativity and enthusiasm for teaching young children.

Ability to adapt lesson plans to individual and group needs.

Physical Requirements:
