Job summary

ScanSource is seeking a Design Engineer I to provide expert guidance on POS, barcode, and RFID solutions. You will design configurations, develop training for sales teams, and create self‑service technical content.

The role emphasizes strong communication, customer collaboration, and hands‑on solution design across hardware and software. You will collaborate with partners and end users, ensuring solutions meet business requirements while leveraging Windows, Android, and embedded platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent exp.
• 1–3 years in a presales, technical support, or systems engineering role.
• Working knowledge of POS, barcode scanning, label printing, mobile computing, RFID and related hardware.
• Understanding of wireless networking concepts (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, device connectivity).
• Ability to design, configure, and document technical solutions addressing customer requirements.
• Knowledge of Windows, Android and embedded device platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to build relations with sales teams, partners, and suppliers.
• Proficient in MS Office and Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Researches, recommends, and evaluates customer requirements.
• Designs and prepares technical configurations aligned with customer specs and best practices.
• Develops and conducts technical training for sales representatives.
• Creates technical content and documentation for self-service tools and resources.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
