Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Structural Engineer to design data center architectures and modular building components for customers in the United States. The role requires CAD proficiency, strong collaboration with HVAC, electrical, and fire protection teams, and thorough reading of RFPs and customer requirements.

You will create 2D/3D layouts, produce design documents, and coordinate technical proposals that meet client needs while adhering to relevant codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of design experience.
• Proficient in structural and mechanical system design including end user interface applications.
• Strong CAD capabilities including site, structural and system layouts, and pre-fabricated data center infrastructure systems.
• Solution-based thinking combining Mechanical and Electrical components for end-customer deployment.
• Strong written and verbal communication across Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
• Proficient PC skills: Windows, Excel, Word, AutoCAD.
• CAD 2D design experience required; Revit or 3D modelling preferred; civil/construction/architecture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reading and understanding RFP and tender documents
• Reading and understanding customer requirements provided by SA and sales team
• Concept design of data center architecture and equipment
• Understanding of relevant architectural and structural codes and standards
• CAD Modeling
• Understanding passive fire protection design and requirements
• Coordination with other technical disciplines (HVAC, electrical, controls, fire protection)
• Dimensioning and specification of structural and architectural parts of the modular building
• Technical project coordination with customers and suppliers
• Communication with customers in order to propose the best solution
• Making technical proposals for Vertiv modular solutions data centres
• Providing design documents
• Problem solving and interpretation of customer requirements in proposed solutions
• Support SA and sales team
• Solution-based thinking that will incorporate a multitude of Structural and Mechanical components to an end-customer deployment

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of design experience
• Proficient in structural and mechanical system design including end user interface applications
• Strong CAD capabilities including the ability to represent site, structural and system layouts, as well as custom designs and associated pre-fabricated data center infrastructure systems
• Solution-based thinking that will incorporate a multitude of Mechanical and Electrical components to an end-customer deployment
• Solid communication skills, both written and oral, to work across multiple Engineering and Manufacturing teams to bring architectures and concepts to deployment
• PC skills: active user of Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), AutoCAD
• Key skills are- CAD 2D design experience is a must. Revit or any 3D modelling software is a preference. Experience in civil/construction/architecture (traditional or modular) is preferred
