Job summary

Sea Box, Inc. in Kentucky seeks a Paint Prepber to support the Paint Department. You will prep, sand, mask, and paint surfaces on containers, maintaining safety and quality while handling materials and cleanup in an industrial setting.

Requirements include 2–5 years of prepping experience in an industrial environment, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and the ability to wear a paint suit and mask. Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of prepping experience in an industrial environment (manufacturing, automotive, etc.).
• Must be able to work with paint suit and mask.

Responsibilities

• Accident prevention – identify and report safety hazards.
• Identify and pursue cost reduction and efficiency opportunities.
• Support ISO 9001 Quality Management System and Sea Box Quality Policy with self-inspection.
• Wash containers to remove dirt, oil, grease, and debris from painted surfaces.
• Locate and remove imperfections on panels prior to painting and treat scratches.
• Apply paper and tape to protect unpainted surfaces while painting.
• Sand surfaces to remove gloss and smooth rough spots.
• Remove masking tape after painting and clean the container.
• Lift production objects up to 50 lbs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Description

Performs work in the painting, prepping, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures. The prepper prepares surfaces for painting and finishing and does other general laborer type work.

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Paint Department Supervisor. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in the field. Must be able to work with paint suit and mask.

Responsibilities:

• Accident prevention – actively identify, correct and/or report safety hazards to prevent accidents.
• Actively identify and pursue cost reduction and efficiency/profit improvement opportunities.
• Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the Sea Box Quality Policy calling for self-inspection of your work product.
• Wash containers to remove dirt, oil, grease, and debris from painted surfaces.
• Locate and remove imperfections on panels prior to painting. Treat scratched and chipped areas with proper products.
• Apply paper and tape to protect unpainted surfaces and other parts while surrounding areas are spray-painted.
• Smooth unmasked surfaces with sandpaper removing gloss from previous coats of paint. Sand rough spots.
• After the container is painted, remove masking tape, and clean it.
• Lifting production objects of up to 50lbs.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
